The Northdale neighbourhood in Waterloo has been having a problem with thefts from vehicles since around May.

The area under question includes the university district, surrounded by Phillip Street, University Avenue East, King Street North and Columbia Street East.

Waterloo Regional Police first issued a warning about a rise in thefts from vehicles at the beginning of the summer, noting that between May and June, nine vehicle owners had items stolen from their cars.

Between July 1 and Aug. 12, there were over 25 locations of reported thefts from vehicles.

Police say the most commonly stolen items include cash, wallets, electronics, ID, passports, tools, jewellery and sports equipment.

In some cases, officers say bank cards have been taken and promptly used at a nearby store.

Anyone with information related to the two accused is asked to call police at 519-570-9777. To provide anonymous information, contact Crime Stoppers. Anyone can report what they believe to be a suspicious incident.
