Two victims attacked in Cambridge in “hate-motivated” assault

Waterloo Regional Police are investigating what they believe to be a “hate-motivated” incident in Cambridge late Sunday.
At around 4:10 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to reports that multiple victims had been confronted and assaulted. Authorities arrived and found that the victims had suffered minor physical injuries, but the pair did not require further medical treatment. Police say the incident took place in the area of Hamilton Street and Bishop Street South in Cambridge.
Officers found and arrested the 36-year-old Kitchener man and have charged him with multiple offenses, including assault and assault with a weapon.
WRPS says the investigation has led them to believe that the attacks were “hate-motivated”, but no further details are provided in the release.
