Fourth annual KW Palestinian Festival being held in Downtown Kitchener

Members of the local Palestinian community will be gathering at Carl Zehr Square on Sunday for the 4th Annual KW Palestinian Festival, also known as Palestinian Day.

The event is organized by the Palestine Youth Movement and Sporas Scattered, two local Palestinian groups. The theme of this year’s event is “The Land Remains.” The groups said it will “focus on paying tribute to the ongoing strength and courage of Gaza”

“This festival is more than a cultural celebration; it is a space of community, resistance, and remembrance,” Shatha Mahmoud, of Palestine Youth Movement’s KW chapter, said in a press release. “The exhibits, the performances, and the activities are not only about the past; they are a call to action.”

The event will also feature live music, Palestinian food and vendors, and various exhibits.

It is free for the public to attend and gets underway at 1 p.m. The festival will last until 9 p.m.
