More apartments coming to Waterloo in new high-rise

Waterloo city council has voted “yes” for a new residential high-rise apartment building on King Street North, near Columbia Street.

A statement from the city said council voted Monday night “approving the official plan and zoning bylaw amendments at 354 King St. N.”

The building will replace a small two-storey commercial building beside a McDonald’s restaurant. The 24-storey building will include 185 apartment units, 186 parking spaces and 118 bicycle parking spaces.

All the units add up to 277 bedrooms, but only 19 units will be three-bedroom spaces.

On the ground floor will be 636 square metres of retail space.

There will be roadway access from both sides of the building to King Street and Regina Street.

The owner of the building is TJMT Enterprise Ltd.
