A winter weather travel advisory has been issued for Waterloo Region as more snow is expected to bombard the region.
The advisory warns of snowfall amounts between 5 and 10 cm and reduced visibility on the roadways late Tuesday afternoon.
This comes as the winter weather already presented another hurdle for students and commuters Tuesday morning.
Temperatures on Tuesday will be unpredictable, and some cold winds and blowing snow are coming to the region thanks to a fast-moving low-pressure system.
“Quite a rollercoaster ride with the temperatures,” explained 570’s Meteorologist Jill Taylor. “We’ll sit at about -2 C in the morning, and we’ve got cold wind chills as well, but then dropping even colder to -10 C. Then, rising again to near 0 C for the late evening.”
On top of those fluctuating temperatures, some flurries are set to begin at around 3 p.m., bringing as much as 10 cm of snow to Waterloo Region. According to Taylor, that snowfall could continue into the early morning hours of Wednesday.
Temperatures will warm throughout the week, reaching a high of 1 C on Thursday before dipping back down below freezing to start the weekend.
As a result of the weather conditions, township school buses have been cancelled for both the public and catholic school boards.
