A significant stretch of the westbound Highway 401 between Guelph Line and Townline Road has fully reopened.
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) initially closed all westbound lanes from Guelph Line in Milton to Townline Road in Cambridge around 8 a.m.
It’s all due to two collisions Friday morning. One approaching Highway 6 South, the other near the Cambridge ONroute.
Sgt. Ted Dongelmans with the OPP highway safety division said the collision near Highway 6 South involved a passenger van and two commercial motor vehicles.
“Two people were transported to trauma centre, one by Air Ornge and one by land EMS.”
OPP say their injuries are considered non-life-threatening and non-life-altering.
A secondary collision, occurred following another severe two-vehicle crash earlier on Friday morning.
That crash, between a car and a transport truck on the westbound lanes of Highway 401, happened by the Cambridge ONroute.
The driver of the car had to be extricated from his vehicle and has since been sent to hospital.
That crash brought a closure to the westbound 401 at Highway 6 North.
Dongelmans adds the injuries of the male driver of the car are considered to be non-life-threatening and non-life-altering.
At this point, Dongelmans tells 570 NewsRadio it is too early to talk cause of the Cambridge ONroute collision or any possible charges.
