Five firearms, drugs seized in Kitchener raid, with 17 charges laid

Five more firearms and a stash of drugs are off the streets after a police raid in Kitchener.

Regional Police say a search warrant was executed Wednesday at a home in the city at an unspecified location.

A photo of the weapons seized shows a shotgun, a sawed-off shotgun, an assault-style rifle, a revolver, and a small automatic handgun.

Police also seized several boxes of ammunition, and a taser.

A 23-year old man from Kitchener was arrested.

The charges include five counts each of Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Firearm, and Careless Storage of Firearm.

Also: Careless Storage of Prohibited Device; Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose; Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition.

As for the drugs seized, police say there was suspected cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine, psilocybin (magic mushrooms), and prescription pills.

For all that, the suspect is facing four counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.
