The 35th annual Sun Life Waterloo Busker Carnival returns to Uptown Waterloo tonight and runs until Sunday.
The four day event will feature 10 different acts from around the world, including Argentina, South Korea, Estonia and parts of the U.S. and Canada.
The event is free admission and will include food trucks, artists, a midway area and workshops with performers. Two fire shows will take place on Friday and Saturday nights at 11pm.
“Lots of them have gone to circus school have worked for Cirque du Soleil,” said Randy Warren, the chair of the Waterloo Buskers Carnival. “So, they’re more the cream of the crop of buskers from around the world.”
The final act on Sunday afternoon will see all 10 acts come together for a family Vaudeville show. Warren said half of the money raised from that show will go towards Tiny Home Takeout in honour of the 35th anniversary.
“As a committee, we decided we’re gonna help them out with their mission,” said Warren. “[It’s] all about helping people make sure they get a good meal.”
The kickoff event is tonight in the public square in Uptown Waterloo at 6pm. It will feature the group Rhythm Works, the official drummers of the Toronto Raptors.
