Government plans to replace Canada’s aging fighter jets

Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan (SAH’-jihn) will shed some light today on how the Trudeau government plans to replace Canada’s aging fighter jets, when he speaks with defence and aerospace industry officials in Ottawa.

The update will not state what aircraft will replace Canada’s C-F-18’s, but rather will lay out what “short-term next steps” Ottawa intends to take on the controversial file.

The Liberals have been under pressure to say something about the replacement plan since reports last month that they were considering buying Boeing Super Hornet fighter jets without a competition.
