Voices Carry returns for second year

In 2015, Bill Cosby’s performance in Kitchener stirred up quite the controversy.
In response, our community got together to hold Voices Carry – an event that aimed to raise money and awareness about sexual and domestic assault.
Once again, a night of musical performances will be held at Dallas Night Club in Kitchener to raise funds for the Sexual Assault Support Centre of Waterloo Region and Women’s Crisis Services of Waterloo Region.
100% of ticket sales will go towards the two groups with each ticket set at $20.
Shirley Lichti with Voices Carry and the Sexual Assault Support Centre of Waterloo Region tells 570 News that a year later these organizations still need our help.
“We look at one year later, we look at what happened? What changed in our community? And certainly we’ve seen a huge increase in the dialogue around both sexual violence and domestic violence – which is fantastic. But both organizations…need funding. In both situations they’re overcrowded, they have waiting lists…we wanted to keep the dialogue going.”
Doors open at 6pm for the event on Wednesday February 10th. Tickets can be purchased at voicescarry.ca and if you’re interested in helping out – they are still looking for volunteers.
