Council decides location for Kitchener snow disposal facility

Kitchener city council has settled on a location for a permanent snow disposal storage facility.
It voted last night to develop the existing city operations yard on Battler Road for that purpose.
The move became necessary with the lease with the current facility on Ardelt Place set to expire in July.
In an effort to alleviate concerns of residents living near the new site, council also voted in favour of a noise abatement study.
It’s hoped construction will begin on the new location in the fall of 2016 so it will be operational in time for the winter of 2016-17.
