It’s going to be a long day for Regional Councillors – as the 2015 budget is expected to be finalized today. The task at hand: to bring the increase down from 2.73 per cent to 2.5 – which would mean just under 45 dollars for the average homeowner. Talks are set to begin this afternoon – and Budget Chair Sean Strickland joins us now to share what’s on the agenda.

Local Parents and guardians with children 18 years of age or younger are invited to complete a survey as part of a project by Region of Waterloo Public Health and its community partners. It’s to determine how people are talking to their children about topics such as growth and development, healthy relationships, self-esteem, and sexual health, and to learn about specific topics they are discussing. Another objective is to determine what resources or supports, if any, parents/guardians require to have these discussions. The survey will take no more than 10 minutes to complete and can be accessed through the Region’s websites. This survey is not in response to the new sex ed curriculum…but it got us thinking about the parents who want their kids to learn about sex at home.
