Dreams turned into reality for the Hendrikse family as they embarked on a trip of a life time from Waterloo Region’s International Airport.
Helene Hendrikse won the around the world contest on Chym in March and is currently on a flight to Australia with her husband and two sons.
Hendrikse tells 570 news of how she learned of the free trip opportunity.
“Chym always advertises collect chym points. You just have to know the songs of the day. You get points for the songs and then you can put in your name and enter any kind of contest which will be a random draw you can win!.”
The family will be staying in Cairns, Australia for 8 nights and Maui Hawaii for 6.
Hendrikse says she’s always wanted to visit these two destinations.
“We made the decision as a family. We thought the Great Barrier Reef would be something else for the boys to see and paradise in Hawaii.”
Hendrikse entered the around the world contest online in January and won her trip by suprise in March.
“I didn’t know why they were calling me because I put the ballot in January and didn’t receive the call till March.”
Her son Gabriel says he can’t wait to swim in the ocean once he lands in Australia.
“I’m very excited to go! I will probably never go to these places in my life.”
