Hundreds of Home Hardware dealer-owners, store employees, vendors and business partners from across the country are in St. Jacobs for the company’s annual spring market.
This year’s event is even more special, in that it is also celebrating its 50th anniversary.
CEO Paul Straus tells 570 News that it’s an opportunity for dealers to meet face to face with vendors as they look toward stocking their shelves in the months ahead.
He says it’s important to the company to employ Canadians which is why many of the vendors are local.
“We do a lot of purchasing from the Mennonites in this area. The real benefit is the quality of the workmanship but then also it costs a lot less to get products from their shops to our warehouse than it does from the Orient to our warehouse. So the advantage of making Canadians work is an advantage that we would like to continue to do as best we can.”
The market, which runs through Tuesday, includes guest speakers, demonstrations and tours of Home Hardware facilities in St. Jacobs and Burford.
