10:00am- Thomas Southwick, Ward 1 Councillor in the Municipality of Bayham, Re: After all the years, all the different Municipalities sending letters, emails, conversations, and meetings with the Ontario Liberal government, they did nothing to change the skyrocketing OPP wages. The Liberal government, according to Southwick has a approved an 8.55% wage increase for the Provincial Police Service.
10:30am- Cathy Gulli, Maclean’s Magazine Associate Editor, Re: Over the last 20 years, numerous surveys and events have consistently revealed a great divide between the general population and doctors, politicians and the courts towards the most loaded of end-of-life issues: euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide. This disconnect is explained by many factors including concern that sick and disabled people might be urged by greedy or overburdened relatives to end their lives. But for some people with the threat of terminal illness, having the option to end their lives on their own terms would be relief. Gulli reports on this controversial and complex issue and how Canada’s end-of-life debate is coming to a head.
