Snowmobile Safety Week kicks-off today

Today, January 18th – marks the kick-off of Snowmobile Safety Week across the Province.
The joint initiative between the OPP and Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs aims to educate drivers on using trails — and crossing roads — safely.
One of their main messages is to slow down, as there have been six fatalities this year, and all involved speed.
Sgt. Lise Grenier says last year there were two fatalities and that Officers will be out offering tips and talking about equipment, as well as explaining what snowmobilers should have with them when they head out for a ride.
Grenier says along with the message of ‘slow down’ – they would also like to stress that drinking and riding doesn’t mix.
