Medical Marijuana plant possible in Hanover

A company based out of Waterloo has applied for a medical marijuana plant in the town of Hanover.
The proposal has passed the first test, but still needs to apply for a building permit and also get the nod from Health Canada before it would be allowed to produce and supply the drug to approved patients.
Mike Dunlop, the Chief Administration Officer with the town of Hanover, tells 570 News there hasn’t been a lot of backlash from the public due to the potential to boost the local economy.
“Most of the feedback from our community members have been more in a positive sense, in two different veins. One being this is a good thing because of the medical assistance it can provide for people in the region. Number two, like every community, we desperately need some additional jobs and help drive our local economy.”
The name of the company will be released once they have applied for a building permit. The company must also get licensing approval from Health Canada under the Medical Purposes Regulations before a facility can be built.
