MPP’s return to Queen’s Park

Premier Kathleen Wynne will reach out to the opposition parties in today’s throne speech.
The speech, which marks the beginning of the legislative session, will include some measures both the Conservatives and N-D-P wanted.
A source says the Liberals will re-commit to slaying the province’s 12-billion-dollar deficit by 2017-18.
After that, they’ll cap spending growth to one per cent below G-D-P.
They’ll also promise to fight youth unemployment, increase homecare and allow welfare recipients to keep more of what they earn when they work.
That’s something both the N-D-P and the Tories have been asking for.
The source says Wynne wants to make the minority parliament work.
It’s one of the three key priorities that will be laid out in the speech, which also includes a job-creating economy and a fair society.
Lieutenant-Governor David Onley is to read the speech in the legislature beginning at 3-pm.
Cambridge MPP Rob Leone tells 570 News he wants to address what he says is a “deep fiscal crisis.”
Kitchener-Conestoga MPP Michael Harris also says the province needs to balance the books and kick-start the economy by creating good paying jobs in the private sector.
Kitchener-Waterloo MPP Catherine Fife says homecare is one issue she would like to see addressed.
“We put forward a five day homecare guarantee…This is also a job creator.” said Fife.
