The Ontario government has pledged extra funds for Cambridge Memorial Hospital’s long awaited expansion plans.
Kitchner Centre MPP John Milloy announced an additional $4.3M in funding for CMH redevelopment, bringing the hospital’s total renovation fund up to $14.3M.

Milloy says the money will be used for the planning and design work ahead of the hospital being able to issue tenders.
President and CEO of Cambridge Memorial, Patrick Gaskin told 570 news the goal is to get the tenders ready by summer 2013.
Gaskin said that while the government gives a good portion of the money — the community needs to keep up their support. So with that, the hospital is throwing a fundraiser concert, “With Great Big Sea, it’s June 17th at Whistle Bear. We’re really excited about it. Tickets are available online, and it’s a wonderful way to party and celebrate the expansion for Cambridge Memorial Hospital.”
Meanwhile Progressive Conservative MPP for Cambridge North Dumfries Rob Leone supports this funding announcement, and said “To the greatest extent possible, the politics must be taken out of it, and instead focus on the needs of the community.”
