Ultimate Waterloo

Waterloo’s RIM Park is the site for the 2011 Canadian University Ultimate Championships this weekend.

Ultimate is a game similar to American football.

There’s an end zone at each end and an open field in between and the Frisbee has to be tossed in the end zone.

Participants cannot run with the disc, instead it has to be thrown up and down the field.

There are almost 35 teams competing this weekend, some are
from as far west as Manitoba and one coming from Canada’s east coast.

Andrew Portwine is one of the Tournament Directors.

“This will be the largest one (Canadian University Ultimate Championships) in the 16 years of existence.” said Portwine.

Game are scheduled to take place from 8:30 to 5:30pm on Saturday and 9 until 1pm on Sunday.
