Burn Ban Lifted in Kitchener

A hot and dry July has given way to a cooler wet August and the City of Kitchener has now lifted the burn ban that had been in place since early last month.

Chief Fire Prevention Officer, Tom Ruggle tells 570 News based on information from Natural Resources Canada and the grand river conservation authority…there was no reason to keep the ban in place given the amount of rain that has fallen in the last 24 hours.

However, temporary burn bans are still in place in areas that issue permits for fires; Cambridge, North Dumfries, Wilmot, Woolwich and Wellesley. Waterloo doesn’t allow open fires.
