A slew of DUI charges

A whopping sixteen impaired driving charges were laid over the weekend.
And Waterloo Regional Police say that’s the most charges laid over a weekend this year.
Spokesperson Olaf Heinzel says charges laid include impaired driving, which could result in a 90-day driving suspension.
He says too many people are ignoring the message — and warns that RIDE programs will be in effect this long weekend.
Heinzel credits the public for their help — as 9 of those impaired drivers were reported by citizens.
