The high-flying loonie

Higher commodity prices have the Canadian dollar soaring.

The loonie was trading at 103.35 cents this morning, its highest level since mid-November 2007.

The vice-president of Canaccord Wealth Management in Waterloo says there’s not a lot of immediate impact for the average person.

Peter Chandler says those heading south for March Break will benefit as their money will go farther.

He adds a higher loonie is a challenge though for those in the export business.

Chandler says the dramatic increase in such a short time period doesn’t give companies a lot of time to adjust their business models.
