Halloran wants to look at LRT alternatives

Brenda Halloran made a campaign stop at a retirement home in Waterloo today.
The incumbent mayor told a crowd at Terrace on the Square that she is not in favour of light rail transit under the current funding conditions and will support looking at alternatives, including rapid buses.
Halloran also says that personally, she is not in favour of amalgamation, but adds that she will stand by any decision her community makes.
Halloran re-iterated her city council’s achievements over the last four years, including the east side fire station and keeping the public square on budget.
She says the past four years have been a great learning experience, with her council inheriting contentious legal issues that are getting cleaned up.
Halloran is promising a 1.89 to 2 per cent tax increase over the next two years.
She also says she supports hiring a third party consultant to help resolve the Northdale neighbourhood problem.
