Do the Math Challenge

All this week, members of the Cambridge community will be undertaking the “Do the Math Challenge”.
They will be eating from a typical food bank hamper. Participants will experience firsthand what it is like to live on a diet that many people on social assistance experience on a regular basis. This to draw attention to the “Put Food in Budget Campaign”, which is calling for a $100 Healthy Food Supplement in Ontario.
Various communities throughout the province are participating in this initiative.
570’s Mike Farwell endured the Kitchener edition last week. He was a guest on 570’s Jeff Allan Show this morning.
He says he had $20.00 to spend, spread out over seven days.
He says it’s a serious issue that needs attention, and there is no easy solution.
People participating represent a broad cross-section of our community, including business, the nonprofit sector, health care, education, faith community and local government.
