Back to School!

Starting today, you will see a lot of yellow on the roads.

Be aware of the 430 school vehicles on the roads around the region each and every morning, including 300 large sized school buses.

Regional police say it all comes down to the safety of our children.

Staff Sgt. Scott Deifenbaker says slow down in school zones – and stop for that school bus that has the flashing lights going.

He says starting in September, they always get a fair number of complaints about drivers not stopping for the buses that are stopped with the arm out and lights flashing.

If you fail to stop for that school bus, police say you are looking at a $485.00 fine, and six demerit points.

Be advised.
