There are plenty of gambling options for Ontarians.
From lottery tickets and casinos to the race track and online games of chance, the urge to wager can be easily quenched.
In Waterloo Region and area, problem gambling is a real issue for thousands of residents.
In fact, a study shows 19,000 people in our region as well as in Wellington and Dufferin Counties have moderate to severe gambling problems.
Jon Kelly, CEO of the Responsible Gambling Council, told 570’s Jeff Allan gambling affects more than just the person with the problem, but the entire family.
He says classic signs of problem gambling include convincing yourself you will win back what you lost, and losing track of time when gambling.
He says there are services available to assist gamblers and their loved ones – experts who can help them deal with the problem.
