The City of Kitchener is seeking a place on the Monopoly Canada promenade.
It has ranked 60th among 65 pre-selected cities looking for the chance to win a spot on the new Canadian edition of the game.
The downtown Kitchener Business Improvement Area has launched a get out and vote campaign online as the city looks to drum up support for the contest.
Two spaces have also been set aside for “wildcard” entries. Which means two Canadian cities that recieve the most write-ins could still win a spot in the game. Right now Banff tops the wildcard list.
It isn’t the first time Hasbro, the maker of the board game, has included Canada in the game. In 2008, three Canadian cities, including Montreal, won spots in the international Here and Now edition. And landmarks like Niagara Falls were also featured in the Canadian Here and Now edition.
The Canadian edition of Monopoly will be released around July 1st – Canada Day. You can vote until February 7th.
