Another outbreak at CMH

A second outbreak of the Norovirus has hit Cambridge Memorial Hospital.

The outbreak occurred in the hospital’s Complex Continuing Care Unit on the 3rd floor.

The virus was first detected more than ten days ago in the 40-bed Medicine Unit on the 5th floor.

Health officials say the bug usually lasts about 24 hours and is being spread throughout the community, in public places like grocery stores and arenas.

Director of Patient Services, Ann Bartlett tells 570 News they’re taking appropriate measures to ensure everyone’s safety.

She says until the all-clear is given by Public Health, only 1 visitor per patient will be allowed during the shortened visiting hours on the affected floors.

Formerly known as the Norwalk virus, the bug causes vomiting and diarrhea.
