Crime report released

The “Fear of Crime” report has been released by Waterloo Region Crime Prevention Council.
Handed out 1,200 surveys, 703 were completed.
Among the highlights, the main fear for those surveyed was downtown cores in the region and parks at night.
52% felt somewhat unsafe or very unsafe.
Topping the list of Crimes of Concern were drinking and driving, and residential break-ins.
At the bottom were frauds, commercial break and enters and prostitution.
98% of respondents felt safest in their homes during the day.
Women and the elderly feared crime the most, while young men feared it the least, but were more likely to be the victims of crime.
