With the first day of winter here, weather experts are doing a recap of the fall and it looks like people did a lot less shovelling this year.
Frank Seglenieks with the University of Waterloo’s weather station says we only received 25 centimetres of snow, which is a little over half the average and only a third of what we got in the fall of 2008.
Seglenieks says we saw nothing too spectacular on the temperature front.
He says we’ve been about a degree above average and that if it would have continued the way it was in October, it could have been a record cold fall.
The coldest it got was -12 overnight.
That’s the highest low temperature of the season since the fall of 2001.
