Throne speech to be delivered at Queen’s Park August 9

Ontario Premier Doug Ford confirmed Thursday that the legislature will convene August 8.

A speaker will be elected on that day.

On August 9, Lieutenant Governor Elizabeth Dowdeswell will deliver the throne speech.

Ford's Conservative government won a second majority back on June 2.

Two of the five MPPs from Waterloo Region will be heading to the legislature for the first time —  Brian Riddell (Cambridge) and Jess Dixon (Kitchener South-Hespeler).

Mike Harris (Kitchener-Conestoga), Laura Mae Lindo (Kitchener Centre) and Catherine Fife (Waterloo), were all re-elected.

Harris, Riddell and Dixon were all recently named parliamentary assistants
