Some ER patients may have experienced longer wait times due to new computer system

Grand River Hospital has a new computer system, and some are complaining it led to longer wait times earlier this week.
570 NEWS received word on Monday that some patients visiting the Emergency Room were experiencing heavier delays than usual.
One message read, “New computer system change over at Grand River Hospital causing longer than normal wait times in the ER. People should avoid GRH!”
In a statement, the hospital said it went live with a new health information system on Sunday morning.
“Some patients in the emergency department may have experienced longer wait times as staff adjusted to working on the new system.”
It added additional support staff are in place to assist clinical staff with the change.
It said the new system will ultimately help the hospital improve the care it provides to our community.
