Pop-up park coming to downtown Kitchener next week

Kitchener's Carl Zehr Square will take on a different look late next week.
A temporary pop-up park will be set up there from Friday, October 14 to Sunday, October 16. The city is partnering with 8 80 Cities to build excitement and engage diverse communities in reimagining parks and public spaces.
The park, which will start to take shape Thursday, will feature accessible pathways and play, nature-based play elements, open green space, an open fire, and picnic tables.
“We’ve heard a lot of great ideas from community members over the summer about what they would like to see in their parks and open spaces. The pop-up park is about demonstrating and testing those ideas in real-time, and asking the community are we on the right track? We hope we get even more folks engaged in the conversation on the future of parks in Kitchener,” Niall Lobley, the city's director of parks and cemeteries explained in a news release.
