‘One Game at a Time’: hockey broadcaster Harnarayan Singh publishes memoir

A celebrated Canadian sports broadcaster has written a memoir, fondly remembering his childhood and the challenges of his career.
Speaking on The Mike Farwell Show on 570 NEWS, Harnarayan Singh recalls the time when he first fell in love with the world of hockey.
“When I was very early on in the mid-80s, you had the Oilers and the Flames, and you had this fella — I'm sure you've heard the name, Mr. Wayne Gretzky, the great one, #99, and he was just taking up the world by storm.”
He says he was a huge Gretzky fan as a child.
“It was really special in terms of how obsessed I was with Wayne Gretzky and had a shrine for him at home in my bedroom. I would talk about it when people ask kids as they do, 'what do you want to be when you grow up,' and I would always say I want to be a hockey commentator.”
Singh fondly remembers what it was like to call his first game on Hockey Night in Canada, Punjabi.
“It's something that if you've dreamt of it your whole life.. and then it comes into fruition. Had it not been for Hockey Night Punjabi, I would not have been able to get my foot in the door.”
