With Black Friday and Cyber Monday now out of the way, non-profit organizations are hoping people have some cash leftover to help them out on this Giving Tuesday.
The initiative, called the 'world's largest generosity movement', can also include helping a stranger, or even making someone smile.
Some of the local organizations that will gladly accept donations Tuesday include Lutherwood Child and Family Foundation, Brain Injury Association Waterloo-Wellington, SHORE Centre and The House of Friendship.
More details can be found on the Giving Tuesday website.
“You can make a donation, if you want, directly to the organization that you want to support, or just get involved in your community.” said Lys Hugessen, vice-president of partnerships at Giving Tuesday Canada.
“There's so much need out there. The last three years people have been giving really, really generously. During the pandemic, we saw the numbers increase a lot. And then were a lot of social justice causes people were giving to and natural disasters.” Hugessen added.
Giving Tuesday first launched in 2012.
