Fall Handmade Market features 30+ vendors, free goodies in Kitchener

By Isabel Buckmaster

Escape the fall chill at local D.I.Y business, Crafty Crystal's Fall Handmade Market this Saturday.

Featuring 36 small businesses selling handcrafted items, the event takes place in a large party hall located at Lyle Hallman Pool in Kitchener.

Parking and admission are free and all entrants can earn ballots to win a prize at each vendor's booth. The first 50 families will also receive free swag bags.

Specializing in D.I.Y. events and kits, Crafty Crystal will also be offering a Jack-O-Lantern Workshop next Thursday as well as a Children’s Halloween Craft Party three days before Halloween.

Solana Creations, one vendor at the market, creates handmade clothing from her home in Kitchener. While her mom pushed her to start taking knitting lessons at the local library as a child, Solana quickly fell in love.

In 2018, the young artist began to crochet and decided to share her work with others shortly after.

Solana prides herself on using Canadian-made, natural fibre yarn crafted from non-toxic dyes. She also offers her designs in multiple yarn options in an attempt to make her pieces “as accessible as possible.”
