With only a few days left until kids around Waterloo Region return to school, the Stanley Park Community Association (SPCA) is hosting a carnival and movie night to create a few final summer memories this Saturday.
The Event
The SPCA’s Saturday carnival will take place at the Stanley Park Community Centre between 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on August 22. There will then be a roughly 3-hour break before the organizers invite families to return at 7:00 p.m. that evening for a free outdoor movie night.
SPCA says in an Instagram video about the event, that the carnival will feature all manner of entertainment for audiences young and old. Organizers say to expect fun including games, various family activities, live entertainment acts, a magician, and balloon artists who can make animal and balloon shapes of all sorts.
Then in the evening, the outdoor movie night will take place outside the community centre under the stars. The movie will be ‘How to Train Your Dragon’, which is suited to audiences of all ages. Complimentary popcorn will be included as part of the free movie night event.

Organizers suggest attendees for the movie night consider bringing their own lawn chairs and blankets if they want to avoid sitting on the grass. At the end of their release for the event on Facebook, SPCA tells potential attendees to “Grab your family, your friends, and your favourite blanket. We can’t wait to spend this special day with you!”
Stanley Park Community Centre is located at 505 Franklin Street North in Kitchener. The community centre sits next to the major intersection between Ottawa Street North and Franklin Street North, right next to Midland Park.
