Too much hype?

The winter storm that was supposed to wallop the region was actually, pretty uneventful.
Some workplaces told workers not to come in or gave them a few extra hours to arrive, but many people say they didn’t really need it.
And now some residents are suggesting the media and the weather experts hyped the storm up too much.
570 News took the question to the streets.
“It’s better to have too much hype than none at all, because people don’t take anything seriously,” says Derek.
Chad says it was a bit overdone, but adds that if the hype led drivers to stay off the roads and stay safe, it was worth it.
Waterloo Regional Police say they did not see an increase in collisions this morning.
The weather did cause a few hiccups, with some vehicles fish-tailing on city streets.
The cold temperatures also froze some parking meters downtown.
It was a good day to play hookie, with a few people enjoying lunch at Chicopee ski hill, telling 570 News they were ‘working,’ as they checked their phones.
Kids didn’t need to skip school because today was an official P.A. Day for many of them.
Some children, who were snowboarding with their friends at Chicopee, told 570 News they were disappointed that what would have been a snow day was already a day off.
