Tornado confirmed in Woodstock during Saturday storm

The Northern Tornadoes Project has confirmed an EF0 tornado touched down in Woodstock during Saturday’s storm.
The severe weather system had tornado alerts lighting up phones and mobile devices here in Waterloo Region.
The alert sent out shortly after 4:00 p.m. warned of a system with the potential to develop a tornado heading towards Orr’s Lake and the Galt area of Cambridge. Reports of the severe storm however, were coming in around 3:00 p.m.
“Damaging winds, large hail and locally intense rainfall are also possible,” read the alert. “This is a very dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation.”
Officials with the Western University based team said damage reported so far has been minor, and at this point they will not be sending a survey team to investigate in Woodstock.
Another twister was also confirmed to have touched down in Lindsay, that has also been given an EF0 rating.
In Waterloo Region, no tornadoes were confirmed to have touched down, however tree and property damage has been reported across the seven municipalities.
In Kitchener, Bluesfest was briefly put on pause, and pedestrians told to take shelter, as strong winds and heavy rain drenched performers, vendors and volunteers. The event was back on Saturday evening under a mostly clear sky.
CityNews Kitchener has reached out for more information on reports that train tracks were impacted by the storm as well, near Riverside Park in Cambridge. The alleged damage to the tracks had a number of cars derail Sunday afternoon.
