Cambridge to resume curbside leaf collection after snow buried messy mounds

The melting snow has revealed mounds of soggy, rotten leaves on many curbsides in Cambridge, and the city is getting ready to come out and clean it all up.

A social media post from the city said its loose leaf collection program will resume on March 30, after early heavy snow kept work crews from sweeping up all the leaves that people raked onto the street last fall.

The city said the neighbourhoods that were not finished in 2025 will be cleaned up first.

All other areas will see more collection in the spring.

A map from the City of Cambridge shows green streets where the loose leaf collection was completed in 2025.

The city has since asked all residents, “if you’re able, please rake your leaves to the curb to help crews work more efficiently.”

And the city reminds everyone the Region of Waterloo’s Yard Waste Collection Program begins in April.
