The latest flood warning message from the Grand River Conservation Authority includes the City of Cambridge as river levels continue to increase.
The GRCA’s bulletin said the water flow is expected to rise in the lower Speed River on Tuesday morning and will remain high, resulting in the flooding of low-lying areas.
The GRCA says municipal flood coordinators in the City of Cambridge have been advised to let affected property owners know and to monitor conditions.
River flows are expected to reach Flood Warning Zone 3 in West Montrose, around midday Tuesday, it also notes.
The new flood message also includes a warning action for Six Nations, which said river flows are high and expected to increase in the lower Grand River throughout Tuesday, resulting in the flooding of low-lying areas.
Municipal flood coordinators in Six Nations have been advised to notify affected property owners and monitor conditions.
The GRCA’s flood warning messages remain in effect for Grand Valley, St. Jacobs, Village of Conestogo, New Hamburg, Ayr, Drayton, Brant County, Brantford and Haldimand County.
The flood watch message for the rest of the Grand River watershed remains in effect.
The conservation authority says everyone is encouraged to read its guide on the website for more information about flood warning zones.
This comes as a significant weather system is expected to drop 20 to 40 millimetres of rain on Waterloo Region Tuesday into Wednesday.
