SUV stolen from driveway of Kitchener home

Waterloo regional police are hoping to find a vehicle that was reportedly stolen right from the driveway of a Kitchener home.
The alleged theft happened in the middle of the night around 2:10 a.m. Thursday.
Police said around that time, a Lexus SUV was stolen from a home in the Yellow Birch Drive and Trussler Road area, on the edge of the Forest Heights neighbourhood.
Investigators have not released any suspect descriptions at this point, and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
The Waterloo Regional Police Service released a list of tips to avoid a similar crime from happening to you.
It includes:
- Block access to the onboard diagnostic port to prevent thieves from reprogramming the vehicle’s key fob.
- Use a steering wheel locking device.
- Place key fobs in a radio-frequency shielding pouch when not in use.
- Consider installing an after-market GPS tracker.
- Ensure all keys are accounted for and never left in the vehicle or unattended.
- Report suspicious activity immediately.
