Laurier coach and wide receiver win personal awards to close out season

In spite of their loss in the Yates Cup championship, the Laurier Golden Hawks have brought home a pair of individual awards as the U Sports season comes to a close.

Golden Hawks Head Coach Michael Faulds and star wide receiver Ethan Jordan have received two of U Sports’ most prestigious awards.

Jordan was awarded the 2025 Hec Creighton Trophy as the most outstanding Canadian player in U Sports. The Ottawa Red Blacks prospect led all receivers in the league with 10 touchdowns and 1066 yds. He’s the second Golden Hawks player in two seasons to take home the award after quarterback Taylor Elgersma won the honour last season.

Faulds took home the Frank Tindall Trophy as the best coach in the league for the second straight season, and has become the first coach to take home the award for the third time with the same organization.

The Golden Hawks fell just short after going undefeated during the season, falling 30-27 in a classic Yates Cup Final against Queen’s.

The Vanier Cup will be held this Saturday between the Saskatchewan Huskies and the Montreal Carabins at Mosaic Stadium in Regina.
