Rangers take second shootout win over Flint

For the second game in a row, the Kitchener Rangers finished off their opponent in a shootout to extend their winning streak to five games on Friday night.

The Rangers jumped to an early 2-0 lead in the first period with goals from Trent Swick and Tanner Lam; but it was short-lived. Flint scored two goals across the last two periods to push the game into overtime and then a shootout.

Jackson Parsons held strong against Flint’s three shooters, stopping two out of three shots with Trent Swick and Jack Pridham getting the goals to secure the 3-2 victory. Friday’s game was the second shootout win for the Rangers, after a 15-round shootout win over the Sault St. Marie Greyhounds on Wednesday.

Goaltender Jackson Parsons received first star honours with Jack Pridham receiving the second star with his one assist and shootout goal.

Kitchener currently sits second overall in the OHL standings behind the London Knights with 74 points and a 35-93-1 record.

The Rangers continue their road trip on Saturday as they take on the Saginaw Spirit. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
