E-scooter rider seriously injured in Waterloo crash

An e-scooter rider was seriously injured following a crash in Waterloo on Thursday morning.

Police responded to a reported collision involving an e-scooter and a Toyota vehicle on Northfield Dr. West shortly after 6:30 a.m.

According to police, the driver of the Toyota attempted to change lanes and struck the e-scooter.

The 19-year-old Kitchener man on the e-scooter was ejected and transported to an out-of-region hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Toyota has been identified as a 25-year-old man from Quebec.

Police say their investigation is ongoing and charges are anticipated.

Northfield Dr. West was closed to eastbound traffic between Parkside Dr. and Conestogo Rd. for several hours for the investigation.
