Riverbend Drive in Kitchener reopens following watermain break

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

Riverbend Drive in Kitchener has reopened following a watermain break on Tuesday morning.

Riverbend Drive was closed between Wellington Street North and Guelph Street for most of Tuesday and into Wednesday afternoon.

City officials said crews finished repairs around 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

Repairs on the 63-year-old watermain were expected to take 8-12 hours on Tuesday, but ended up lasting more than 24 hours.

The pipe itself is described as an 8-inch cast iron watermain from 1962.
