Kitchener-based company Bridgit has earned a spot in this year's edition of Globe and Mail's Top Growing Canadian Companies.
This is the second time in a row the construction software company was recognized.
The company was founded by a pair of Western students back in 2013 as part of a business accelerator program.
“We realized that both of our families have been in the construction business, and we were determined to go out and find some of the different challenges that were happening in onsite, and hopefully solve with technology,” said CEO and Co-founder Mallorie Brodie.
“This is the second year that we've been named to the Globe and Mail top-rated companies in terms of our revenue growth, and so for that is really just a testament to the value we're providing to the construction industry,” Brodie said.
She alongside her business partner Lauren Lake now employ a team of over 50 people, and they have over 200 customers across North America.
Brodie says they have the potential to become the size of a publicly-traded company, and while there are no plans to do that right now, they are hiring in all areas.
“We recently closed a round of financing that was led by AutoDesk, so they're a really large public company on construction and design software. They invested, which is a great stamp of approval for us, just in terms of the solutions we're building for the industry and with that, we're planning to grow our product and development over the next year-and-a-half.”
She also says it's an honour to represent women in what is typically a very male-dominated industry.
“Our families were in the construction business, we both had entrepreneurial experience. She was a civil engineer, so on paper, we we're the perfect two to go out and tackle this problem, so we never really questioned it. But it's been amazing just to see the positive influence I think its had, both in the tech and construction business to try to get more females into the space.”
Other local companies that made the list include Stryve Marketing, Encircle and ThinkLP.
