Over $200,000 worth of drugs seized – 32 charged in “Project Noex”

19 people from Waterloo Region have been charged in connection with a massive drug bust.

Waterloo Regional Police and the OPP say a total of 30 people face more than 200 Criminal Code charges as a result of raids conducted Wednesday.

28 search warrants were executed as part of a four month investigation called “Project Noex.”

Homes and properties in Kitchener, Cambridge, Elmira, Elora, Fergus, Palmerston, Dundalk, Whitechurch, Toronto, Kingston and Lyndhurst Township were searched.

Police have seized methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, marijuana, and prescription drugs with a combined street value of more than $225,000.

Another $80,000 in Canadian and US currency was found along with 16 vehicles.

But, OPP Detective Inspector Steve Clegg tells 570 News it’s the amount of firearms seized that indicate the level of desperation this drug operation had to “protect it’s assets.”

31 rifles and handguns, 1,075 rounds of ammunition, one explosive device, a stun gun and brass knuckles were also seized.

Clegg says it shows these criminals have a “lack of respect for the law … and their communities.”

WRPS Inspector Greg Lamport tells 570 News this bust has put a significant dent in the local meth trafficking business.
