Police investigating a homicide at Kitchener long-term care home

Police continue to investigate a homicide at a Kitchener long-term care home.
They were called to peopleCare AR Goudie on Frederick Monday around 9:30 p.m. where a 56-year-old man was found dead in his home. The victim has been identified as Ronald McCabe.
A 32-year-old man from Waterloo who was known to the victim and a visitor to the facility was arrested on scene.
Adam McCabe is charged with second degree murder and is due in court again on March 16th.
Waterloo Regional Police Staff Sergeant Michael Haffner says there’s no risk to public safety “as it was a targeted incident.”
More information is expected after a post mortem is complete.

“Last night there was a tragic incident involving one of our residents at AR Goudie. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim. This is an isolated incident that did not involve our staff or other residents. Residents and their family members are being updated and can call AR Goudie with any questions. peopleCare management and staff have been working with and will continue to work with the Waterloo Regional Police Service on their investigation.
